A European-style wedding and event venue.
The Farm at High Shoals is co-owned by Laurie and Scott Higginbotham, two siblings raised in Athens, Georgia. The large estate has served as their private residence and as an equine boarding facility since 2002.
For many years, the two generously offered their property to family and friends as a place to host weddings, reunions, and private parties. In fact, Scott celebrated his own wedding at the farm.
Laurie and Scott, both owners of the Farm at High Shoals.
In 2014, the brother-sister team hired local wedding planner Morgan Hall to turn their property into an official event facility. Morgan now serves as the head event coordinator and is the main point of contact for venue management.
from Morgan:
The support from the Athens and Atlanta wedding communities has been overwhelmingly positive and humbling. To everyone who’s reached out—fellow wedding vendors, film production companies, newly engaged couples, and the general public—please know how much we really appreciate all the kindness and generosity you’ve expressed.
Since becoming an official venue, The Farm at High Shoals has been featured in several well-known publications including Weddings Unveiled Magazine, The Ruffled Blog, and Southern Distinction Magazine. The Farm was also named #9 on a post published by OnlyInYourState.com titled 15 Epic Spots to Get Married in Georgia That Will Blow Your Guests Away.
Spread over 400 acres, the Farm at High Shoals offers a multitude of photography backdrop options for your wedding. The property features the Villa, a luxurious period-Italian mansion and beautiful area for portraits, and the Stables, a 15,000 square foot reception barn and primary event space. Other notable areas include a working hillside vineyard, the Villa’s well-kept lower lawn, and a large private lake.
When it comes to weddings at the Farm at High Shoals, we tend to focus on creating highly exclusive, detailed, and one-of-a-kind events.
The Farm at High Shoals might be a relatively new venue, but hosting only one wedding per weekend is a policy we plan on keeping. We may, however, book something like a corporate event or private party on the Sunday after your wedding but never on the same day.
You will be stressed out at some point during your wedding preparation. It’s just part of the process!
The good news? Our facility is run by a wedding planner with several years of experience at this property. We are happy to offer guidance, supply timelines and layouts from previous events, and give you our honest opinion.
We’re a little over-the-top with maintaining our grounds. (In a totally good way.) You will not be disappointed in the condition of our venue on your wedding day. Period.
We don’t have in-house catering, and we don’t require you use Morgan for coordinating. In fact, we love meeting new talented vendors! We only have a few restrictions:
We have a mansion, barn, vineyard, lake, island, and oodles of green grassy flat space. Lots of options.
Our goal is to provide world class service and an immaculate, out-of-the-box backdrop for your wedding day. We invite all the unusual, over-the-top, and outrageous party planning ideas. If this sounds like your cup of tea, please don’t hesitate to schedule a tour and free consultation with our head coordinator.
We aren’t on site all the time. Please inquire directly via telephone to schedule a tour. (PS: We love texts!)
